Emery Kauanui Jr RIP

Windansea local pro surfer Emery Kauanui Jr., 24, died from brain injuries on Memorial Day, four days after an altercation at the La Jolla Brew House that lead to four acquaintances arrest & the first murder in La Jolla in over five years. Emery was born in Kauai, but had lived in San Diego since the early 90's. He was a fixture on the left at Windansea and surfed it better than anyone. After the memorial paddle out service today, the left at Windansea has been renamed "Emery's Left". (June 9th,2007)
